If you missed my 2015 Bookish Goals post at the beginning of the year – and the beginning of this blog! – you can check it out here. I thought I would do progress reports each quarter, in order to re-evaluate my goals, if necessary, and see how I’m doing – and to solidify my extreme nerdiness.
1. Read 60 books – on track!
This would be an average of 5 books per month, so to minimally be meeting my goal, I should have read 15 books by now. I’m killing it with this one, and so far have read 28 books this year!
2. 15 Books to Read in 2015 – meh, but okay with it.
This is a self-made list of books I want to read this year. You can see the full list, and track my status anytime here. So far this year, I have read um, 1 of the 15 books, which is actually okay. The first three months of the year were dominated by Tournament of Books reading, and now that’s wrapped up reading-wise, so I can finally get to some of these!
3. Finish previously started series – FAIL!
Utter fail so far, but whatevs. I’m sure I’ll finish the last Vampire Academy book soon, and hopefully Clockwork Princess as well. There are so many series I want to get to, but have anxiety about starting new ones with out completing at least some of those previously started. It’ll happen.
4. 3 NEW series to read this year – success in 1 of 3!
I’ve already read the first book of the Mistborn series, thanks to #YearOfCosmere, and plan to get to the second (I’m behind!) and third next month. The other two series I haven’t started yet, and I’m cool with that.
5. Read at least 5 classics – FAIL!
Yeah, I’m okay with my failure at this point. It will happen… or it won’t. However, if you have any enjoyable classics recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
6. Track my reading stats – SUCCESS!
Still not sure what I’m going to do with this information in my geeky spreadsheet, but I’m sure it will become clear as the year progresses.
7. Book Riot 2015 Read Harder Challenge – SUCCESS!
Based on the average of 2 challenges per month, I should have completed 6 challenges at this point, and I’m done with 9 of the 24, so I’m ahead. This is another one where you can track my progress at your leisure here, as I will be checking them off as I’ve done them. I’m not convinced I’ll fully complete the challenge, but I’m okay with that too!
Overall, I’m pleased with my progress, and am going to call this a success at this point. So far, I want to continue with all of my goals, and still feel completely committed. I will check in again at the half way point near the end of June!

Congratulations on your book challenge successes! Haha I haven’t read very many classics this year either, and I’m not doing so well on reading banned books for another challenge. Tracking reading stats is impressive, too! I tried to do it on a spreadsheet at the beginning of the year but I kind of lost track after a while.

Congrats on doing so well! You’ve read a shit ton, I’m impressed. I’m doing a TBR challenge where I made a list of 12 books to read by the end of the year. I’ve done one. Oops. I don’t know why, but it’s so hard to make myself follow rules I make for myself haha.

Some repeat AUTHORS (Toni Morrison, Haruki Murakami) but different books! I’d love to do a three-way read along w/ you and Backlist Books maybe after April’s #CloudAtlasAlong if you guys would be into it! I’d really be willing to read most anything on your list, or something else completely!

Yeah, definitely! The only reason I didn’t do the Cloud Atlas readalong was because I’d already read it. And I didn’t like it very much haha. But yeah, I’d be down to do a readalong with you guys.

A quarter of the year gone already, how did that happen?! Very interesting to see your reading progress so far, and as far as classic recommendations go, I’d definitely recommend The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. It was the first classic I ever finished and I still think about it to this day. In my opinion, the language is a lot easier to read than lots of other classics, and it’s not very long, but I still found it a really compelling read and it’s really opened up the classic genre for me. Hope this is helpful!

I actually just found a pretty edition of The Picture of Dorian Gray at Half Price Books, so that is a very timely recommendation! 🙂

Oh wow that’s such a coincidence, because I’ve recently been looking for a nicer edition of it! I think I have the Wordsworth edition, and the picture on the front has literally nothing to do with the book, lol. Sometimes it’s really hard to find nice editions of classics. I’ll have to check out Half Price Books. 🙂
