Top Ten Tuesday | My Spring TBR Pile

Top Ten Tuesday is a book meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.

This week’s topic is Top 10 Books on My Spring TBR Pile, and let me tell you – this list is never ending, and truly challenging to whittle down to only ten books. I’m going to break it up 50/50 with newer releases, mixed in with some backlist books I’m most anticipating finally getting to.

 Newer releases:

I mean, Judy Blume, people. One of my favorite authors of LIFE, and I have to wait until June. Ugh! I’m feeling a little Deenie, Freckle Juice, Summer SistersAre You There God It’s Me Margaret?, Forver…oh man can’t stop, re-read action coming.

If I Fall, If I Die  A Little Life  In the Unlikely Event  Mosquitoland  Ruby

Backlist:

Have you heard of my 15 Books to Read in 2015 project? It’s almost all backlist books, of which two are listed below. And, I’m not sure if The Martian counts as backlist, but whatevs… it’s happening.

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry  Kindred  The Martian  Never Let Me Go  The Handmaid's Tale

Have you read any of these, and if so what did you think? What should be my priority? Can’t wait to see your lists, and I’m sure I will be adding even more to my always growing TBR!

  1. You can knock of The Storied Life of A.J. in an afternoon. I think it would be well described as a warm hug for a book lover. You’ll enjoy it.

I audio booked The Martian, worked well with all the jargon.

Also, Arianna is currently reading “Never Let Me Go”, we’ll all be on a Ishiguro ride (I’m reading his latest).

Ahh, and “A Little Life”… don’t read it while depressed. On a brighter note, I can’t wait to see reviews for these books. Happy reading!

  2. I hope you enjoy The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry! I read it towards the end of last year and it was such a wonderful read 🙂 Never Let Me Go was an intriguing read, though I had to read it twice to understand some of the themes that Ishiguro was getting at xD Happy reading 😀

  3. Oh wow, you have so many good books on this list that I don’t even know what to say! I’m in the middle of A Little Life right now. It’s brutal and FANTASTIC. Ruby will break you, amazing. Mosquitoland is the next on my list. The Martian! So good. Kindred! Fantastic. The Handmaid’s Tale? Life changing. You’re in for an awesome spring. 😀

    1. Yesssss! Love when people rave over my books next up! Makes me even more excited! I feel like I just want to read EVERYTHING lately, and can’t read fast enough to keep up with my desires! #TheStruggleIsReal Can’t wait to hear your final thoughts on A Little Life!

    1. Yes, I’ve heard the science-y things can bog down the reading a big, but I love science and am not scared away by that! Hope you enjoy it when you get to it! 🙂

  4. I loved The Martian, and can’t WAIT for it come out on film! Although I’m having trouble picturing Matt Damen in the lead… I pictured a smaller, nerdier guy. Never Let Me Go is my favorite Ishiguro, and it’s a great year to read The Handmaid’s Tale – I think it has an anniversary coming up (and it’s great… and weird).

    1. I love Matt Damon in most things, but without having read the book, can’t comment on that yet. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about Never Let Me Go, as well as The Handmaid’s Tale, and all the positive reinforcement makes me even more excited to FINALLY get to these two books! 🙂

  5. I really like your blog! It’s super simple but it’s beautiful! I love The Handmaid’s Tale but that’s the only one I’ve read on your list. I’ll have to check the other ones out! Great list 🙂

  6. If I Fall, If I Die is my favourite book of 2015 so far! Excellent. I also loved The Martian and The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry… I’m almost jealous you still have them to look forward to! Okay, so you’re probably going to judge me, but I read Forever… last year, and it was my first Judy Blume book ever. Feel free to keel over in shock now. But her new book is on my TBR too, and I’m looking forward to it!

    1. I really love all this positive reinforcement I’ve been getting on my list today! I pass no judgement, but I honestly don’t know how you made it through your teenage years without my BFF Judy Blume. That woman taught me life. 😉 Ok fine, slight exaggeration, but she definitely had an impact on me, that’s for sure! Read Summer Sisters, stat. I kind of want to re-read it, as it’s been around 10 years probably since I’ve last read it, and some of the details have slipped away.

  7. AJ Fikry and Never Let Me Go are both great! The movie of Never Let Me Go is actually great too, but you can’t really go wrong with Andrew Garfield and Carey Mulligan if you ask me!

  8. I feel like I must have been living under a rock because I did not know about Judy Blume. I’ve read several, but Summer Sisters still holds a special place in my heart.

    1. I like this cover (it’s the paperback version), and especially that in the window of the bookstore, you can see the original cover version! I’m excited to read it – have heard great things! 🙂

  9. The Martian was SOOOO good!!!! Oh man. Definitely my favorite book I’ve read so far this year and probably the only thing I’ve read in the last few years that I’m actually excited about going to film!
